Geographically, Ujung Jaya Village is located in the administrative area of the well sub-district of Pandeglang Regency, Banten. This village is directly adjacent to the Ujung Kulon National Park area on the south and east sides. To the west this village is bordered by the Sunda Strait.
On 14 January 2022 then, Ujungjaya Village area experienced the impact of a large earthquake with magnitude 6.6 happened at 16.05.41 WIB, The epicenter is located at 7.01° South Latitude and 105.26° East Longitude precisely at sea at a distance of 52 km to the southwest of the Banten Well with a depth of 10 km.
Due to the enormous shaking, caused some damage and loss in several places. The impact of the earthquake occurred in 48 districts, 166 village or village. The worst affected areas include Sumur . District, Cikeusik, Cimanggu in Pandeglang and Lebak Regencies. as a result, many houses were damaged in the area of Ujungjaya Village.
Disaster events often raise various kinds of problems, start with economic problems, social welfare to gender-based violence. Gender shapes vulnerability and resilience to disasters in various and complex ways. Moreover, Ujungjaya Village has very difficult access to education and health services. However, the people in this village have good social capital when they recover from disasters.
Based on existing conditions and social capital, the government of Ujung Jaya Village facilitated by the Scale Indonesia Foundation has initiatives and ideas to develop a response plan that can be used and understood as a guideline by all stakeholders and stakeholders. One important aspect of disaster management is preparing contingency plans.
Contingency plans are prepared and agreed upon as guidelines or guidelines for policy directions, strategy, and steps to deal with emergencies or crisis situations resulting from disasters. Contingency planning is prepared and agreed upon by all relevant agencies/services/institutions, then becomes the basis and commitment of local government and stakeholders to implement, managing and responding to disaster emergencies, including the availability of the required resources.
Ujungjaya Village Secretary, Nia Komarudin said that the activity of making contingency plans in a series of Community-Based Disaster Risk Management Development programs initiated by Scale Indonesia was very relevant to be implemented in this village.. Reason, This village often experiences disasters which are very risky for residents. This activity started in August, for making a contingency plan in Ujungjaya Village was carried out on 28 September to 1 October 2022.
