Indonesia is an archipelagic country that has a lot of potential for disasters because this country is on the "Ring of Fire" route.. In line with that, then there needs to be an increase in the capacity of citizens regarding knowledge of the disasters that lurk this country. Therefore, a site that provides information related to disasters in Indonesia was created, namely DisasterChannel.co.
DisasterChannel.co is the first disaster portal in Indonesia. This portal was initiated by Planas PRB, TEMPO, Technology Research and Application Agency (BPPT) and the Indonesian Scale Foundation. This portal is the first step of the big goal of these parties to build a knowledge management center to reduce the impact of disasters. Different from other portals, the portion of disaster information in the DisasterChannel.co portal is more about the spirit of disaster risk reduction. This portal is the first step of the big goal to socialize the Disaster Risk Reduction movement (PRB) and build a knowledge management center in order to reduce the impact of disasters.
So that Disasterchannel.co can build a knowledge management center, then Disasterchannel.co together with the Asia Pacific Alliance for Disaster (APAD) conduct a focus group discussion (FGD) to develop Disasterchannel.co in managing disaster information. The FGD was carried out by the Disasterchannel.co website management from the board to the content creator.
In the discussion, Meiky Sofyansah stated that “I personally position Disasterchannel.co as a comprehensive and comprehensive disaster portal. How is the progress of each disaster that occurs and can be recorded properly and can become the center of information knowledge management related to disaster issues?. All kinds of disaster management from pre to post disaster, all well recorded, so that this portal can become a preference for readers when a disaster occurs. As an information and data center, ideally, Disasterchannel.co can provide as many menus as possible that people can access when facing a disaster or provide information about vulnerable areas and others.”.
Trinirmalaningrum explained how Disasterchannel.co developed to realize his dream of building a knowledge management center. It was followed by Mr. Prasidonolistiaji from TEMPO sharing his knowledge on how to build online media so that they can last a long time in the midst of rapidly changing times.. Furthermore, Mr. Erdy Taufik shared his knowledge about how the media tempts people to keep reading.
The discussion continued with various ideas to realize the Disasterchannel.co website which continues to be developed to make it easier for everyone to access information so that they can carry out literacy related to disasters and are expected to change behavior to become more aware of disasters..
