Look at the Process of Community-Based Disaster Risk Management Development Activities in Kertamukti Village

One of the high-value disaster threats in the Sunda Strait region is the threat of an earthquake. Based on the analysis of experts, there is a term called seismic gap which is south of the Sunda Strait. Seismic gap, is a tectonically active area but very rarely experiences earthquakes for long periods of time. Major earthquakes are rarely recorded in the region seismic gap, this can result in an earthquake with a potential magnitude of 8.4 SR according to BMKG, or 9 SR according to the results of other studies.

Residents of Kertamukti Village have experienced several earthquakes and tsunamis. In an earthquake 14 January 2022 just past, several houses in this village were damaged. Therefore, Scale Indonesia initiated the creation of an earthquake disaster contingency plan in this area.

The Community Based Disaster Risk Management Development Program is carried out in several stages. Last August, the first phase of this program was carried out, namely conducting a participatory disaster risk assessment. Temporary, the second stage is in the form of making a contingency plan, done during 4 consecutive days since Monday, 19 September to 22 September 2022.

This event was attended by 30 participants from gender representatives and several walks of life guided by four facilitators. One of the village officials named Eneng Nani Sutiana considers that this event is very useful to broaden villagers' insight into disaster risks in their homes..
