Friends of DC must really want to be successful in creating interesting content, even went viral. Finally, this curiosity was curtailed by the presence of the disasterchannel.co Knowledge Sharing event which had the theme "Disaster Education While Gaining Profits by Utilizing Social Media". This event is supported by the Asia Pacific Alliance for Disaster Management Indonesia (APADM) held at Swiss Bel Hotel Pondok Indah, Jakarta on Monday, 13 March 2023.
DC Friends had the opportunity to chat with Desy Indira who is the Senior Sales Manager at MMP World Wide online or offline. A bright smile with the glow of green clothes accompanied every word that came out of his mouth when delivering the material. Desy said that social media is like two blades which on one side can be useful, but on the other hand it can also harm or injure other people.
Social media has such a strong influence on other people. Based on data from we are social on-release in January 2023 stated that there are as many social media users in Indonesia 167 million or equivalent 60,4% of the population in Indonesia. The average Indonesian spends 3 jam 18 minutes to access social media. 46,8% social media users in Indonesia are women and 53,2% is a man.
The large number of social media users in this country indicates that social media has a big role in their lives. Social media can build communication without the limitations of space and time. Connecting individuals to individuals, individual with community, individuals with brands or vice versa. Social media can be a space for individuals with similar interests or backgrounds to connect and form communities. This community can support and provide a sense of belonging. Social media presents a variety of content including entertainment such as dance, music, game, dll. Even social media can build an image, good for individuals, community, as well as companies.
Besides that, Social media also has a multitude of benefits, among them are as follows:

Social media is an excellent platform for increasing brand awareness, because it allows brands to reach a wider audience and engage with them through content, comment, and order

After having social media, it is important for us to build branding according to what we want. The following are steps to build branding and create content with interesting activities on social media.

The first thing we have to realize and think about is knowing who we are on the social media we have. We have to know who we want to be seen on social media?. This is important to do so that we understand the values we want to build, personality, target audience, and unique selling point that we have. This will all help us create consistent and relevant brand messages on social media.
- Determining the Right Platform
Identify the platforms where the target audience is most active and focus our efforts on those platforms. This will help us reach our target audience effectively, because every social media has its own unique way of communicating.
- Determine "Brand Voice”
Communication style on social media should be consistent across all platforms and aligned with values and personality. Use a mix of visuals, chart, and text to create “Brand Voice" consistent.
- Content Strategy
The content strategy contains the main pillar content that you want to share with your audience. Pillar content can be:: Entertainment, Education, Information, Quiz, dll. Use photos, video, chart, caption as well as hashtags.
- Engagement
Social media is two-way communication, Try to frequently engage in communication with the audience, and engage them through content such as quiz, survey, games,dll
- Monitor and Evaluation
Monitor and evaluate regularly. Use analytics tools to track engagement, range, and other metrics. Use this data to optimize your social media strategy and improve brand awareness.
