YouTube is one of the platforms that gives us its own satisfaction to find various kinds of things we need. Looking for entertainment, new hobby or study, now we can get it by watching videos on YouTube. Over time, YouTube continues to grow, so many users, including the Indonesian people.
It's no longer a secret that working on YouTube can be a way of life. Because through YouTube we can make a lot of money in various ways. Disasterchannel.co really wants to develop a YouTube channel about disasters into one that can compete in the eyes of YouTube fans., while expanding exposure to disaster education to the wider community through this platform.
The ideals of disaster education can be consumed by most of the public, then Skala Indonesia and disasterchannel.co held a workshop with the theme "Disaster Education While Gaining Profits by Utilizing YouTube Channels" at the Swiss-Belresidences Hotel, Kalibata, Jakarta on Wednesday 21/06/2023.
This time we learned a lot from Luthfi Achmad who is the Founder & Mentor Suksesdariyoutube.com. Luthfi has a lot of experience in the field of YouTube channel development, one of which is being a Mentor on the Digitalent Scholarship by KOMINFO 2021 dan Mentor di Youtube Revolution Class by Effion Creator School 2022.
Wearing an all black outfit with a milk chocolate space background, Luthfi started the workshop with the question "What do you think is the main task of a content creator?”. Many participants answered with various interesting and funny answers, like creating content, upload video, edit videos and more.
Then the young man graduated from Marketing and Commerce at University of Reunion, Paris, French This then explains that content creators on various social media platforms have two types, These include negative and positive traits. We have to choose whether to become a content creator that is positive or negative according to our reasons for becoming a content creator. In the workshop room, everyone wants to become a positive content creator who can provide benefits to their environment.
The question emerged again from Luthfi's mouth, he asked “why should we create content on the YouTube platform?”
This question is the main reason this workshop was conducted, because YouTube can give us benefits. This young man again explained that the income earned from YouTube was of greater value when compared to Tik-tok and Instagram or others. Because on YouTube, with a certain number of viewers and broadcast hours we can get paid. Meanwhile on other platforms that already have a lot of viewers, but you don't necessarily get money. Besides that, YouTube is one of the most widely used platforms and there are many endorsements and advertisements that can generate profit for us.
Luthfi shared several tips and tricks on how to make money from YouTube that we can apply, among them as follows:
- Using YouTube to gain profits we must start by determining the initial reason for becoming a content creator. And choose the nature of the content that is positive or negative, then choose educational content or just entertainment.
- Educational content can always be searched at any time (evergreen). Entertainment only rose for a short time but didn't last long. Content that is built from people's problems is the ultimate content.
- Content ideas can come from hobbies, job or skill. We have to know the target audience who sees the content, starting from the age aspect, gender, problem, desires and what if their desires are not achieved.
- Content consistency (theory 40 videos/ for educational content) so that YouTube recognizes the specifications of our channel, prepare yourself mentally, don't give up easily!
- Know the advantages and disadvantages of showing faces in content. To make your face famous, it will be easy to get endorsements and have a personal brand. Without a face it is more difficult to earn income (from Adsense only)
- Take note fair use and creative common and channel analysis, fix it with Search Engine Optimization (SEO) and Meta Data on the title aspect, description, tag.
Finally, Luthfi advised that building a YouTube channel is quite a challenge for beginners. Because income from YouTube is not instant, everything requires a long process that is not easy at first. We must implement “Give first, receive later to work on YouTube” so that you don't give up easily and are consistent in developing it. (LS)
